Black Friday Gets an Early Jump Start

by TheTechGeek on Nov.24, 2009, under Bargain Hunting, Black Friday, Comparison Shopping, Gadgets, Hot Deal

All this week I have been inundated with advertisements in my inbox from every online and brick and motor retailer I have ever shopped at. This makes sense due to the upcoming Black Friday sales which happen every year, but there is something odd this year. Apparently, every retailer in America came up with the same marketing strategy, which is to make Black Friday a week long event. Everyone from Amazon.com to JC Penny to Victoria’s Secret is having some kind of Pre-Black Friday sale. And so far, I am somewhat impressed by their deals. For example, Amazon.com posted a 2 TB hard drive for under $100. The deal was a Lightening Deal, so unfortunately, it’s no longer available. But it does make one wonder what the actual Black Friday deals will be like this year. I am personally looking forward to it, as I am sure you all are. Be sure to check back here, as I will be updating the blog and deal pages constantly for the most recent deals. In the mean time, take a look at some of the Black Friday Week deals I have received.

Xbox 360 Elite for $249.99

by TheTechGeek on Sep.24, 2009, under Bargain Hunting, Comparison Shopping, Gadgets, Gaming, Geeky Products, Hot Deal, Rebates, Technology News

Microsoft announced recently that it would offer a $50 Mail-In-Rebate for it’s Xbox 360 Elite Console, which normally sells for $299.99. This is likely in response to Sony’s recent price-cut on the PlayStation 3 from $400 to $300. Nintendo has also announced a price-cut for the wii bringing it to $200. However, I have yet to see this price take effect on Amazon.

xbox 360 mail in rebate

While I personally stick with a computer for my gaming, these prices are getting tempting, and with the prices taking effect this early, it will be interesting to see how the prices will look for the holiday season.

By the way, the Microsoft mail in rebate expires Oct. 5!

The Xbox 360 Elite is available at:

Wal-Mart

Amazon.com
Buy.com

Newegg.com

Having recently gotten quotes for my newly purchased Dodge Ram diesel, I answered proudly that i got AAA because it was half as much as the other quotes I received. I told him he should check them out because they are the cheapest. After doing so, he spent another week in his room, sobbing quietly. (continue reading…)
